Vicki Bowen Hewes, Executive Director, Dress for Success Columbus

In preparation for The Women’s Book’s December 3rd What’s in Her Bag event, I sent an email to Vicki Bowen Hewes, the Executive Director of Dress for Success Columbus, to see if she would provide a quick sneak peek into what’s typically inside of her “everyday” handbag.   She sent back the following note:

Vicki: I’d say iPhone, but that’s usually in my hand, not in my bag – the one other thing that I would be lost without is a small tin of Altoids that I’ve also ‘stocked’ with Advil and tagamet – I always try to keep my breath fresh, my head from aching and my stomach from churning.

What’s your current state of handbag contents – organized or a bit messy?

Vicki: Totally trashed – I set aside time every Sunday evening to clean out and reorganize for the week – but usually by Wednesday, I am relentlessly digging and searching for things.

Attend What’s in Her Bag on December 3rd at 5:30p.m. at the beautiful Westin Columbus Hotel to hear more from Vicki including the item she always carries in her bag that has been key to her successful career.  She will be joined by four other local women leaders featured in the 2009 Columbus Area Edition of The Women’s Book:

  • Julie Graber, 2009 Guest Editor and director of The Institute on Women
  • Nichole Dunn, President and CEO, The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio
  • Gale King, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer, Nationwide Insurance
  • Ramona Reyes, Columbus City School Board member
